What to look for in a free plan
- Download size. Some free plans cap downloads below full resolution. If clients will print, check this first.
- What clients have to enter. Many galleries ask for an email address before a client can favourite or download. That’s useful for marketing, but it’s one more step for clients.
- Proofing. If your packages include a set number of retouched images, you need favourites and notes. Not every free plan includes them.
- Commission and branding. Free plans are often paid for with a cut of your print sales, or the provider’s branding on your galleries.

- Best for simple delivery and proofing: SendShoot. Every feature on the free plan, full-size downloads and nothing for clients to sign up to. Paid plans start at $12 a month for 100 GB.
- Best if you sell prints: Pixieset or Pic-Time. Both have mature stores and sales tools. Expect a commission on the free plans.
- Best if you also want contracts and invoices: ShootProof or CloudSpot, whose paid plans bundle studio tools.
- Fine for occasional sharing: Google Drive. Generous free storage, but no gallery and no favourites.
